As the Vollrath Company celebrates its 150th anniversary, we reflect not only on the journey of a business but also on the story of a family united by a shared commitment to excellence. From its humble beginnings in 1874, when Jacob Vollrath laid the foundation in Sheboygan, to the present day, Vollrath has stood as a beacon of quality and innovation in manufacturing.
At the heart of this enduring legacy is the Vollrath family itself. For 150 years, this family has remained the sole proprietor of the company, passing down the torch of leadership from one generation to the next. From Jacob Vollrath's pioneering spirit to the visionary stewardship of the 6th and 7th generation, Vollrath has been synonymous with integrity and resilience. The family stood firm in its commitment to preserving the values instilled by its founders. Guided by a deep sense of heritage and responsibility, each family member who took the helm of the company ensured that its legacy continued to thrive and evolve.
While many direct descendants of Jacob might not carry the Vollrath name, their spirit embodies the same dedication and vision. The Vollrath Company’s journey has been shaped by many family members. Andrew J. Vollrath, Carl August Wolfgang Vollrath, Jean Vollrath, Walter J. Kohler, and Terry J. Kohler, each of whom led us through significant milestones and challenges, further enriching the Vollrath legacy.
As we look back on the 150-year journey of Vollrath, we are reminded of the countless moments that have shaped its history, but perhaps most importantly, we celebrate the unbroken lineage of family ownership that has been the cornerstone of Vollrath's success.
Today, we honor not only the achievements of the past but also the promise of the future. With each passing year, the Vollrath family reaffirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community engagement, ensuring that the Vollrath name will continue to shine brightly for generations to come. It does so under the guidance of five Vollrath women —Danielle Kohler, Leslie Kohler, Hilary Hawley, Winter Kohler Wilhelm, and Torri Hawley — who continue to uphold the values and principles upon which the company was founded.
In a world of constant change and uncertainty, Vollrath stands as a testament to the enduring power of family, tradition, and shared values. As we celebrate this milestone, we invite you to join us in honoring the legacy of Vollrath—a legacy built by family, for family, and for all who value quality and excellence.
