Tool & Product Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an individual for the position of Tool and Product Engineer. This individual will have an educational equivalent of college degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical) Five years related experience in the metal stamping/deep draw industry with an emphasis on designing and building stamping and forming tools.


Project Management:

  • Manages the implementation of New Product and Cost savings projects.  Identifies, justifies and implements Cost savings projects. Works closely with internal and external suppliers to achieve desired cost and timeline.

Tool Design:

  • Determines the best type of tooling for new products consistent with expected product life and production requirements. Specifies tool materials and completes tool designs as required. Is responsible for new tool debugging initial production or pilot runs, coordinates any necessary revisions in an efficient manner. Works with Tool & Die vendors to gather quotes, and get tooling built within necessary cost and time frame.

Manufacturing and Press Operation Troubleshooting:

  • Works with Quality, Customer Service and Production departments to solve quality and process problems.


Manufacturing Process and Tooling Estimates:

  • Proposes manufacturing process estimates tooling requirements, and determines or accumulates other such product design information as is necessary of cost estimating manufactured-type products. This process must be performed in a timely manner and includes defining product requirements through sales and customer contact as required. In this regard, should stay abreast of current manufacturing and tooling technologies, as well as present manufacturing costs in order to propose the best process and most economical tooling in line with item specifics and the appropriate facilities.


Record Keeping:

  • Sees that all necessary records and reports are maintained.



  • Candidate will be a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of product group area and the related tool area. Is capable of planning and conducting work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adoption and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered. Works with all levels of the organization and with customer contacts as appropriate to define, cost, develop and produce the products required by our customers.



  • Educational equivalent of college degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical) and five years related experience in the metal stamping/deep draw industry with an emphasis on designing and building stamping and forming tools.
