Job Summary

We are seeking an individual for the position of Process Engineer. This position will be responsible for routing development, programming, manufacturing engineering support, and new manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Process Routing Development & Improvement

  • Develop component and assembly process routing steps thru the review of engineering drawings and current processes setup in the MRP system.
  • Define labor standards, manpower requirements and work centers required to produce needed parts.
  • Work with product engineers, manufacturing engineering, and production personnel to ensure that components are designed and routed the most cost effective method.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to change standard labor rates to reflect most accurate costs.  Complete time study analysis when required.
  • Develop methodology to define how labor standards are created on non-standard equipment.
  • Investigate, develop and recommend processes, machinery, and methods to increase productivity.
  • Complete variance reviews between standard and actual labor and recommend changes if necessary.
  • Aid in development of standard & optional equipment offerings to improve the accuracy of sales proposal and costing.

Programming:

  • Program and nest fiber optic laser, water jet and CNC turret punch machines.
  • Develop bending programs for brake press operations.

Manufacturing Engineering Support

  • Review fabrication and assembly processes to identify possible improvements to safety, quality and cost.
  • Identify needs for fixtures and equipment to ensure a quality product.
  • Review current designs and make recommendations to reduce overall cost.

New Manufacturing Processes

  • Individual will be assigned, by management, to special projects as they relate to the development or improvement of new processes or the introduction of new products as required.

 

Qualifications

  • General – Ability to work independently and communicate on all levels, both within the company and with outside vendors. 
  • Fabrication/Metal Working - Individual must have a strong understanding of metal working processes (i.e.bending/forming, MIG/TIG welding, spot welding and finishing).
  • Programming – Ability to program laser, water jet, cnc punch press, and brake presses.
  • Software/MRP – Experience with Microsoft Office, Solidworks, AutoCAD, JDE planning system preferred.  Flow and Bysoft experience is a plus.
  • Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related technical field of study, plus 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment required. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years direct sheet metal manufacturing experience is required.
