Job Summary

We are seeking an individual for the position of Planning Specialist. This individual is an entry level role and is key to supporting the operations planning/scheduling team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute planning report based on direction from Material Planner
  • Assist in expediting and de-expediting work orders and purchase orders
  • Release work orders and purchase orders to preferred/approved suppliers
  • Collaborate with purchasing in the evaluation of current/approved suppliers
  • Maintain positive communications with internal/external “customers” for raw materials, finished goods, supplies, and services (Customer Service, Suppliers, Inter-plant, operations, etc.)
  • Manage inbound and outbound shipments with suppliers and internal traffic department
  • Assure proper approval, accounting, and processing controls are maintained
  • Review and close work orders
  • Inventory and interplant receiving
  • Manage material issues to work order
  • Inventory counting
  • Manage/prepare shipment information
  • Prepare metric data and daily information reports
  • Prepare shop packets
  • Involvement in continual improvement efforts
  • Various administrative duties and JDEdwards/supporting system transaction processing
  • Other job task as assigned


  • Education and Experience
  • High School or GED required, Associates degree in operation/supply chain or business preferred
  • 0-1 years of experience in a manufacturing facility

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pound occasionally
  • Ability to walk in a production floor with possible uneven surfaces

Work Environment

  • This work takes place in a professional office setting that has a production shop floor attached.  Ability to wear PPE when appropriate will be required.
