Job Summary

We are seeking an individual for the position of Field Service Technician - Cleaning Division. The Field Service Technician inspects and services industrial cleaning equipment assuring product & quality performance, addresses and resolves questions and problems regarding products, and conducts training and service programs in the operation and maintenance of products.

 

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and start-up company manufactured & purchased cleaning equipment at customer sites according to specifications and drawings.
  • Monitor erection and installation of equipment to ensure that company guidelines and tolerances have been met.
  • Service all company products at customer sites; testing, troubleshooting, retrofits and adjusting as needed. 
  • Use various gauges, meters, and electrical testing equipment to check specifications.
  • Provide technical support to customers over the telephone and/or via email, addressing and resolving questions and problems.
  • Communicate with appropriate company employees regarding product problems to facilitate problem resolution.
  • Conduct training and service programs in the operation and maintenance of equipment for customer employees.
  • Complete all required records and documentation for customers and for the company.
  • Determine the acceptance of equipment erection to activate warranty.
  • Remain technically competent and keep current in new developments within the industry.
  • Inspect, document and approve cleaning machines to company and/or customer defined acceptance criteria.   Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to close any identified gaps prior to machine shipment.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Technical school certification or 2 year degree required with and 3 to 5 years of technical experience preferred.  
  • Welding experience preferred.

Language Skills 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, customer specifications, warranties, company standards, electrical schematics and operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees of the organization. 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to effectively present information in both group and one-on-one situations. 
  • Should be able to communicate effectively on the phone and via e-mail; must communicate in a courteous manner using good grammar

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 Other Qualifications

  • Ability to operate a variety of small hand and power tools, the ability to operate electronic testing equipment, the ability to travel, and the ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and climb or balance.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with limited supervision and effectively handle employee/business related documents with confidentiality when necessary. 
  •  Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
