Job Summary

We are seeking an individual for the position of Buyer/Planner II - NPD. This person is responsible for the sourcing of purchased items related to new product development projects in accordance with project budgets and timelines

Responsibilties

  • Manages the sourcing to include:
    • Ordering and tracking of Engineering samples
    • Quotes all new products and maintains quote master lists by project
    • Pursues quotes from multiple sources on high $ items
    • Ensures preferred suppliers are involved in the design and quote processes
  • Provides early notification to commodity management and supplier quality that a new source is engaged
  • Analyzes supplier quotes for conformance to requirements and pricing models. 
  • Works with commodity management to ensure that product is sourced to appropriate suppliers and to identify new or alternate sources.
  • Coordinates with Plant Purchasing on order quantities and inventory turn strategy to establish initial purchased cost
  • Fully establishes all necessary data points in JDE to allow transition to Plant Purchasing for seamless execution in production
  • Attends all NPD team meetings
  • Works in collaboration with Supplier Quality to ensure that PPAP’s are submitted on all new products

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Experience:  Minimum of 2 -3 yrs in Procurement from a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills
  • Collaborative as opposed to prescriptive in dealing with issues
  • Highly analytical – must be able to synthesize data and establish clear direction
